Necktie – Choosing the Best for you
A necktie or tie, is a long piece of cloth worn for decorative purposes. It has a lot of variants, these includes the bow tie, ascot tie, bolo tie, and the clip-on tie. I’ll be giving out how these types are used for you to be able to choose what design or type best suits your style.
- Bow tie/s – the most popular type of necktie worn by men, it is usually used and partnered with formal attire, such as suits or dinner jackets. Most men use this as an accessory. This tie may be made of any fabric material, but the most commonly used were silk ties, cotton ties and polyester ties.
- Ascot tie/s – is a narrow neckband with wide pinted wings, it is traditionally made of pale gray patterned silk. It is usually reserved for wear with morning dress (a daytime formal dress code consisting chiefly for men of a tailcoat, waistcoat, and striped trousers, and an appropriate dress for women) for formal daytime weddings, etc.
- Bolo tie/s – a type of necktie consisting of a piece of cord or braided leather with decorative metal tips or aglets secured with an ornamental clasp or slide. In the United States, these ties are widely used or associated with Western wear and are generally most common in the western areas of the country. Bolo tie/s was made the official neckwear of Arizona in 1971.
- Clip-on tie/s – a kind of bow tie or four-in-hand tie which is permanently tied, with a dimple just below the knot and which is fixed to the front of the shirt collar by a metal clip. Clip-on tie was reportedly invented by the Less brothers, on 13 December 1928 in Clinton, Iowa.
Whatever type you prefer to use, always take into consideration the details and function of each tie to come up with a perfect and properly matched outfit. Just think of neckties like cherries on top of a good wardrobe, each gives a sense of style when matched appropriately.
